Some how I got wrangled in to building a bike polo rig / dirt jumper. Bruce, who builds the best of strange and fun bikes for fun obtained a Devinci Cameleon on the side of the road for me. It is far too small for me. It is also about as old as I am, with some amazing welds, some scratches, broken water bottle bolts (I can't put a Burrito Holder on this one, unfortunately) and half of a worn out headset on it.
I was a bit bummed out about putting money into this frame. The thing about a polo bike (especially made for someone who only dabbles in playing polo) is that it should be cheap and easy to whip together for the occasional weekend polo match. I calculated that I would be spending over $100 on it (not much in the bike world, I know, but I'm a dirtbag after all), but I slowly cobbled together some parts and started to make it work.
So far, it has a pair of SRAM cranks I had in my basement, an old v-brake that was attached to the frame, some brake pads that still had some life in them off of a bike in the shop, a seatpost that was too scratched up to be sell-able, an old seat, bars and stem I had from a previous bike, a derailleur-turned-chain-tensioner that I MacGyvered together. I also have a front wheel that I was maybe saving for another bike, but could end up working for this one.
Basically it is everything a polo bike should be.
It might end up being a mixture of polo and dirt jumping, I'm open to ideas.
