So these are actually called the Muc-Off Rider Glove, but I “won” them for coming in last place at the Coal Cross cyclocross race earlier this year… hence the title of this article.
So turns out these are pretty decent for a “coming last” prize. They felt a bit tight on the first wear, but all gloves do. They kept my hands decently warm on the first brisk fall day of the year, so I think they’ll be a good shoulder season glove. They’re not marketed as waterproof or resistant, so I’m not holding my breath on that.
They have a big rubberized “Ride or Die” on the palms, which is pretty aesthetic if you’re a MTB bro. I rode these on drop bars, and to be honest didn’t really like the placement of the grippy graphics. They felt weird on the bars and kind of stuck in places they should have slid, and slid in places they should have stuck. They’re definitely more for flat bar riding, but considering I got them in a CX race it stands to reason they could be ridden on drops too.
The touchscreen compatibility is pretty sick, I’m glad that’s basically a given on gloves these days.
I unfortunately immediately got knicked on the knuckle by a blackberry thorn, which pulled some of the thread out. It’ll be interesting to see how durable these are.
As far as I can see, these will be an OK fall/spring glove, particularly for a flat bar bike. If that’s your jam, then check em out.
