After a few months of riding these guys, I figure it's time for a review. They're the M530 SPD Trail clipless pedals from Shimano. Half a step down from the XT version, these guys have all of the features of their bigger brother. They do weigh a bit more, but they're about half the cost.
I've mainly had them on and off my touring bike. I got them plenty muddy, clogging them up with some Alberta clay a few times. So far they've had no issues after cleaning them out.
They've got sealed bearings and dual sided clips. I like the wider footbed since they can be used as a flat pedal if you don't want to clunk around in cleats on a quick ride to the bar. After finding the right clip tension I was in and out of these guys like nothing. They're great for a long tour, quick rip and everything in between.
They do, however, hurt like a bitch if you smash them on your leg. I have the scars to prove it.
Pick them up from your local bike shop.
