Here it is, all done and dusted.

As I’ve said in other posts, I came across this frame kind of by accident. I went to buy a bag of parts, and came home with almost all of the pieces to build a bike.

Then I built it, and now I’m selling it.

This is a 1980 Windsor Touring Elite bike, sized 58 (which is too big for me, or I’d probably end up keeping it). I put some updated wheels on it, some comfy tires and new bar tape. I also replaced all of the cables and housing, and threw a brand new chain and cassette (11-25 9 speed) on it. Yes the old school Campagnolo rear derailleur was not designed to do more than 6 speeds, but it works like a dream, so looks like the Italians were a bit forward thinking. It was also the first Campy rear derailleur made of aluminum, so that’s neat.

As for the frame, I had a hell of a time trying to get info on it. I ended up looking up images of fastback seat stays, which it turns out is a big Cinelli thing. While I got excited, my excitement was dashed a bit when I found out it wasn’t a Cinelli. Just the next best thing. Back in the 1970s, one of the Cinelli famiglia moved to Mexico and started working at Windsor. Rumour has it he took some of their designs, including these seat stays, and made some almost-Cinelli bikes. Now one of them has found its way to Vancouver Island 42 years later.

When I got the bike it was as disassembled as it could possibly be. I got a bag of loose ball bearings! So you know I completely overhauled this bike.

I wouldn’t sell it if I didn’t know it was good. I took it on an hour long ride the other day, climbed some hills, descended others and it is good to go. So if you want it, hit me up. I’m asking $750, but willing to take offers. Vancouver Island-based so if you’re here it’s a bonus.
