Its strange how much things can change in a few years. Since I started down this weird road that is being a bike guy, I've had quite a few different rides. Some haven't stood the test of time (or even lasted more than a few rides) while others have become staples that I wouldn't ever get rid of.

I'm happy with the lineup I've got, nothing is redundant and everything has a bit of dirtbag flavour. These are the bikes that have stuck with me, before and after.

This was the bike that started me out riding again. It was my first real bike (besides my bmx) and is still my only road bike. My friend's dad took pity on me when my bike got stolen and gave me this. Since I got it I've upgraded the bars, stem, crankset and replaced a few drivetrains. It also has new-ish tires.

Quickly becoming my favourite, this was pulled out of a dumpster. The only thing from then that has survived is the frame, fork and headset. The mangled cable routing made it a singlespeed, a fact that I'm eternally grateful for. Notable: Blackburn Tallboy cage.

This one is probably my most ridden bike. It has also gone through the most changes. I also saved this one from the scrap heap and built it into a heavy-treadded dirt dropper — I basically wanted a Surly, but couldn't afford one — this made me rethink buying new bikes and appreciate rebuilding old ones.

Now it has racks, fenders, smooth wide tires (tanwall of course), 90s Deore XT components, bar end shifters and fancy classique pedals.
